Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />DATE: January 11, 2016 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Interim City Administrator <br /> Director of Finance and Administrative Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2016-2017 Union Contract <br /> <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />Staff and our representative, Bill Joynes (Midwest Government Advisors), met with the Union <br />Business Agent, Ron Boesel, and the Union employee representative on several occasions. Prior <br />to these meetings staff had met with the Personnel Committee and our representative Bill Joynes <br />to discuss the City’s response to the Union’s proposal. A meeting was held on December 30, <br />2015 were we reached a tentative agreement pending approval of the City Council and the Union <br />employees. <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee met on January 4, 2015 to review the contract and recommends <br />approval to the City Council pending Union approval. The contract includes a wage increase in <br />2016 of 2.5% and in 2017 of 2.75%. No other items were changed except for the wish of the <br />union employees to change their voluntary deduction for the MSRS Health Care Savings Plan <br />(HCSP) percentage contribution based on years of service. This was approved by MSRS and has <br />no impact to City costs or the budget. <br /> <br />Union employees took a vote on January 6, 2016 and accepted the contract. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee recommends the approval of the 2016-2017 Labor Agreement <br />between the City of Arden Hills and International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 49, <br />AFL-CIO as presented. <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6K <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br />
