5 <br /> <br />6.7 STEWARD <br />Employee whose responsibilities are limited to receiving complaints from its members of <br />violations of the AGREEMENT, checking status of membership in the unit, reporting <br />safety problems and service as a communication link. <br /> <br />6.8 OVERTIME <br />Work performed at the express authorization of the EMPLOYER in excess of either eight <br />(8) hours within a twenty-four (24) hour period (except for shift changes) or more than <br />forty (40) hours within a seven (7) day period. <br /> <br />6.9 HOLIDAY OVERTIME <br />Employees required to work on an observed Holiday (refer to Article XXIII) shall be <br />compensated one and one-half (1.5) times their base hourly pay rate for each hour <br />worked. Employees required to work on the actual holiday shall be compensated two (2) <br />times their base hourly pay rate for each hour worked. <br /> <br />6.10 CALL BACK <br />Return of an employee to a specified work site to perform assigned duties at the express <br />authorization of the EMPLOYER at a time other than an assigned shift. An extension of <br />or early report to an assigned shift is not a call back. <br /> <br /> <br />ARTICLE VII – SAVINGS CLAUSE <br /> <br />This AGREEMENT is subject to the laws of the United States, the State of Minnesota, and the <br />City of Arden Hills. In the event any provision of this AGREEMENT shall be held to be contrary <br />to law by a court of competent jurisdiction from whose final judgment or decree no appeal has <br />been taken within the time provided, such provision shall be void. All other provisions of this <br />AGREEMENT shall continue in full force and effect. The voided provision may be renegotiated <br />at the request of either party. <br /> <br /> <br />ARTICLE VIII – WORK SCHEDULES <br /> <br />8.1 The EMPLOYER has the sole authority in the preparation of work schedules. The <br />normal work day for an employee shall be eight (8) hours. The normal work week shall <br />be forty (40) hours. <br /> <br />8.2 Service to the public may require the establishment of regular shif ts for some employees <br />on a daily, weekly, seasonal, or annual basis other than the normal work day or week. <br />The EMPLOYER shall give at least two (2) working days advance notice to the <br />employees affected by the establishment of work days different from the employee’s <br />normal work day or week. The EMPLOYER will first ask for volunteers to staff these <br />changes to the normal work week or day. If there are not enough volunteers to fill the <br />shift change, the EMPLOYER will assign personnel to fill the shift based on seniority. <br />Those employees with the least seniority will be assigned first until all shifts are <br />assigned. <br /> <br />8.3 The employees shall be allowed one coffee break in the morning of thirty (30) minutes in <br />duration, inclusive of driving time to and from the Public Works building if required, and <br />no coffee break in the afternoon. They shall be allowed a lunch period of thirty (30) <br />minutes for which they will receive no pay. <br />
