CONSENT ITEM – 5H <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: February 8, 2016 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Sue Iverson, Interim City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Amy Dietl, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointment <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills has a seven-member Planning Commission that advises the City Council on <br />issues related to the City’s Zoning Code, land use applications, Comprehensive Plan, and requests <br />for acquisition, improvement, or disposal of the City’s real property. Currently, one of the seven <br />seats on the Planning Commission is vacant. <br /> <br />Recently, interviews for the vacant City Council seat were conducted. An applicant for the Council <br />seat who was not chosen for that vacancy has been recommended by Mayor David Grant to serve <br />on the Planning Commission. As such, the Chair and staff liaison of the Planning Commission met <br />with the applicant and agree with Mayor Grant’s recommendation. <br /> <br />James Lambeth resides at 3505 Glenarden Road and has an educational background in business and <br />finance. Mr. Lambeth possesses a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree as well as several <br />certifications in the fields of real estate and home inspections/remodeling. Mr. Lambeth has many <br />years of senior executive experience, charity fundraising and organizing skills, and has served on <br />the Minnesota State Appeals Board. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Appointments <br /> <br />Mayor Grant has asked that staff prepare a recommendation for the City Council to appoint James <br />Lambeth to the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Approve Resolution 2016-007 appointing James Lambeth to the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Attachment A: Resolution 2016-007 <br />Attachment B: James Lambeth Application Materials
