� <br />�� <br />EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: August 8, 2011 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers <br />FROM: Jill Hutmacher, Community Development Director�/�" <br />SUBJECT: State of the City Event <br />The State of the City event has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at North <br />Heights Lutheran Church. The event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The venue was <br />chosen for its abundant parking, willingness to waive the room rent for a civic event, and the <br />venue's ability to provide audio-visual and catering services. <br />A task matrix (Attachment A) has been created to track preparations for the event. Staff is on <br />schedule with event preparations. Marketing activities are focused on the business community. <br />• Save-the-date post cards have been mailed to local businesses. Announcements have been <br />posted on the City website, the bulletin, and the City calendar. The next newsletter wilI have an <br />announcement of the event as well. An advertisement will be posted in the Shoreview-Arden <br />Hi1Zs Bulletin closer to the event date. <br />At the July 27, 2011, Economic Development Commission meeting, Commissioners suggested <br />that presentation topics of interest to the business community include: <br />• The Vikings stadium proposal; <br />• Upcoming road improvement projects; <br />• The B-2 District Implementation Plan; and <br />• An overview af City management and the 2012 budget. <br />In the past, Councilmembers have given the presentations at State of the City. Staff has assisted <br />with the preparation of the presentations. Presentations are tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:00 <br />a.m., allowing approximately 10 minutes for each presentation plus time for questions. <br />Discussion Questions: <br />1. Does the Council have any comments on the task matrix? <br />2. Does the Council have any changes to the tentative list of presentation topics? <br />3.
