DATE: March 14, 2016 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />FROM: Sue Iverson, Acting City Administrator/Director of Finance and Admin Services <br />SUBJECT: New Voting System <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$26,925 $21,084 Equipment, Building & <br />Replacement Fund <br />Background <br />Congress at the Federal level has mandated that an assistive ballot marking device be present in <br />all polling places and in-person absentee voting locations. Additionally, Minnesota’s Legislature <br />mandated uniform state laws and procedures for central counting of absentee ballots. The <br />requirements are mandating that we update our voting system equipment and procedures. <br />Council Action Requested <br />1. Motion to approve a payment in the amount of $21,084 to Ramsey County which is the <br />City’s share of the capital expenditures for the new voting equipment. <br />Attachment <br />Attachment A: Invoice #PRREL-000417 from Ramsey County <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6B <br />MEMORANDUM
