I-694 NON-MOTORIZED CROSSING STUDY PAGE 7
Notable for the I-694 study is the TPP’s inclusion of a designated Regional Bicycle Transportation Network
(RBTN). The intent of the RBTN is to identify a “backbone” network of on- and off-street bikeways that can serve a
transportation purpose by connecting people to regional destinations. Planning and implementation of the RBTN is
the responsibility of cities, counties, MnDOT, and parks agencies. However, bikeways that are located on the RBTN
will receive some level of priority when competing for federal transportation funds through the Council-administered
regional solicitation.
Figure 3: Regional Bicycle Transportation Network (RBTN)
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!(
!!!!
!
!
!
!
!##
##
#
#
###
#
#
#
#
#
##
#
#
#
#
#
##
#
#
#
#
#
#
##
##
#
#
Wright
Dakot a
Scott
Anoka
Hennepin
Carver
Sherburne
W a s h i n g t o n
Ramsey
0 10 205 Miles
§
Nov 2014
Regional Bicycle Transportation Network Vision
RBTN Alignments
Tier 2 Alignments
Tier 1 Alignments
RBTN Corridors (Alignments Undefined)
Tier 1 Priority Regional Bicycle
Transportation Corridor
Tier 2 Regional Bicycle
Transportation Corridors
Other Trail Systems
State Trails (DNR)
Mississippi River Trail
(US Route 45)
Regional Trails
(Regional Parks Policy Plan)
Regional Destinations
Regional Job Centers
!(Highly Visited Regional Parks
Major Sport & Entertainment Centers!
#Colleges & Universities
#Large High Schools
Subregional Job Centers
Metropolitan Job Centers
Reference Items
Principal Arterial Roads
Lakes and Rivers
City Boundary
