CONSENT ITEM – 5I <br /> <br /> <br />City of Arden Hills <br />City Council Meeting for March 28, 2016 <br /> <br />P:\Planning\Planning Commission\PC Miscellaneous\Appointments_Resignations\2016\Nick Gehrig\CC Packet_(3-28-16) <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: March 28, 2016 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Sue Iverson, Acting City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Ryan Streff, City Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointment – Nick Gehrig <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Motion to approve Resolution 2016-011 appointing Nick Gehrig as an alternate member of the <br />Planning Commission with a term expiration of December 31, 2018. <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City of Arden Hills Planning Commission has seven members, plus one named alternate <br />who sits as a voting member when a regular member must be absent. <br /> <br />Nick Gehrig, an Arden Hills resident, submitted an application to serve on the Planning <br />Commission. Mr. Gehrig has extensive knowledge and experience working with the public <br />sector, excels in group decision-making situations, and has significant project management <br />experience. <br /> <br />Pursuant to City policy on appointments to the Planning Commission, Mr. Gehrig was <br />interviewed by the City on Tuesday, March 15. Following the interview with Mr. Gehrig, Mayor <br />Grant asked that staff prepare a recommendation to the City Council to appoint Mr. Gehrig as an <br />alternate member of the Planning Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />The Planning Commission liaison (Mayor Grant) recommends that the City Council appoint <br />Nick Gehrig as an alternate member of the Planning Commission in order to fill the current <br />vacancy on the Commission.
