MINUTES <br />CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA <br />PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 29, 2000 <br />7:00 P.M. <br />4364 W. ROUND LAKE ROAD <br />CITY HALL <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chair Don Messerly called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present were: Don Messerly, Committee Chairperson, Louis Speggen, Don Tix, Jim <br />Crassweller, Jim Johnson, Rich Straumann, Steve Zilmer, Patrick Krenn, David Grant, Council <br />Liaison, Thomas J. Moore, Parks & Recreation Director, and Michelle Olson, Recreation <br />Program Supervisor. <br />Absent: Dorothy McClung. <br />• APPROVE MINUTES <br />January 25, 2000, minutes were approved without changes. <br />COUNCIL REPORT <br />Mr. David Grant reported that since we last met, Council approved the Bethel project. Part of <br />the discussion involved where the trail would go, the homes affected, etc. A map of the Bethel <br />project was included in everyone's packet. Council is in favor of moving the trail closer to the <br />tennis courts and adding trees on the other side of the trail so it will go tennis courts, trail, trees, <br />residents. So the residents will no longer have people walking through their backyards. It is <br />better screening for the residents because the elevation drops off from the tennis courts. The <br />residents were still concerned about the amount of screening both in terms of between <br />themselves and the complex and themselves and the portable restrooms. Bethel said that they <br />would be willing to spend up to $10,000 for additional landscaping, to be determined after the <br />project is near completion. <br />Jim Johnson asked: Does that have any effect on the City's easement property. Are they going <br />to leave that as it? <br />David Grant responded: They will leave the City property line. <br />There was discussion, using the map, with regard to placement of the trails. The trail will be on <br />• Bethel property. It is a $1.8 million project. They are now in the process of trying to raise the <br />
