CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
is MEMORANDUM
DATE: July 15,1999
TO: Parks & Recreation Committee
FROM: Thomas J. Moore, Parks & Recreation Director ( - l►'t11-.
SUBJECT: Tuesday July 27, 1999 Agenda
Here is a brief summary of the major items listed on the July 27,1999 Agenda:
Bethel College-: The City Administrator and the Mayor will be meeting with the President of
Bethel College in the near future. The City Administrator and the Mayor are requesting clear and
specific direction from the Parks & Recreation Committee regarding the City's participation in
the Bethel College Athletic Facility project. The two main issues to be discussed and voted on
tonight are; should the City financially contribute to this project and should the City be part of
this project without any financial participation. Both of these decisions will be forwarded to City
Council as well.
• Arden Manor: The project will go out to bid this week, with the expectation of an October start
date. Staff paid a visit to Mr. Fran Husnik, the owner of Arden Manor, last week. The purpose
was to secure a financial commitment from him for all of the drainage work. His initial offer of
assistance was $10,000 out of a $50,000 package. Staff will continue to meet with Mr. Husnik in
order to increase his level of financial participation.
Summer Project Update: presented by Tom.
Vandalism in the Park: The City has experienced vandalism to the Outdoor Biffs at Hazelnut &
Valentine Parks.
0
