MINUTES CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION THURSDAY, JANUARY 7, 1999 7:00 P.M. Call to Order Chair Lynette Kreidler called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. Roll Call Present were Lynette Kreidler, Anita Larson, Don Messerly, Lou Speggan, Rich Straumann, Megan Ricke, Dorothy McClung, Brian Fritsinger, Tracy Petersen, Lois Rem and Bethel representatives. Absent was Jim Johnson. 2 Approve Minutes Minutes from December 1, 1998 were corrected to read, "Vice -chair Anita Larson called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m." Corrected minutes were approved by Megan Ricke and seconded by Anita Larson. The minutes were passes unanimously. MEMEL '11 • Review of Liaison Role. Council member Rem reviewed what her role will be as liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Work session Review. Ms. Rem reported that the City Council had approved the hiring of a full-time parks and recreation director. Mr. Fritsinger added that the position has been advertised in the newspaper and state parks and recreation jobs bulletin. Mr. Fritsinger also noted that he would like 1-2 commission members to be included in the interview process. City Newspap-er. The Council approved the New Brighton Bulletin as the City's official newspaper for 1999. Hiring of Parks Maintenance Worker. The City Council approved the probationary hire of parks maintenance worker due to begin January 14, 1999. Town Hall Meeting. The 1999 Town Hall meeting will be Saturday, January 23 at Bethel College from 8:30 a.m.-noon. City Administrator Fritsinger also commented on the following items: Channel 29 Tower. The City is going to begin conversations with Channel 29 regarding towers in Arden Hills. Mr. Fritsinger noted that in the future this may involve the commission in terms of possible trail development around these areas. •
