ARDEN HILLS PARKS, TRAILS & RECREATION COMMITTEE 5
• Chairperson Johnson said broomball players are fairly good about leaving at 4:30 p.m. to
allow the hockey kids to practice. He suggested signs be posted to indicate when
broomball is allowed at the rink.
Ms. Olson indicated it is difficult to discriminate against broomball players versus
hockey players on community ice rinks.
Mr. Moore suggested discussing the broomball issue at the February meeting.
Chairperson Johnson complimented City Staff on providing nice ice for the skating
season.
Mr. Moore reported six years ago Valentine Elementary School asked the City to fund a
play structure. It was a long discussion which was reluctantly approved three to two and
the donation amount was $200.00. In his opinion Valentine Park and Perry Park are
close enough to be utilized and the elementary school is not a community park. He
indicated he is reluctant to suggest the City get involved with this project. This item will
be presented to Council.
MOTION: Committee Member Crassweller moved and Committee Member
Zilmer seconded the motion not to recommend to Council approval
• of the request for funding for the play structure at Valentine
Elementary School. The motion carried unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Committee Member Crassweller moved and Committee Member
Zilmer seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:40 p.m.
The motion carried unanimously.
Respectfully submitted,
Joan Lenzmeier
TimeSaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
•
