Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />DATE: May 16, 2016 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />Susan Iverson, Acting City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: John Anderson, Acting Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: State Fair Parking Update <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Provide staff with feedback on sign material and images. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The City Council previously discussed this item and asked that public works look into a more <br />rigid sign for marking temporary no parking areas during the Minnesota State Fair. Additionally, <br />it was suggested that the signs indicate the consequences for disregarding the signs. I have <br />reviewed the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and found the manual does cover a <br />“Tow Away” symbol but does not have any accepted wording related to fines. We have also <br />researched materials to be used which would include a corrugated plastic sign which can be <br />printed with whatever sign image we request and a medium weight 6 foot fence post. <br /> <br />Public works will need to secure the materials and have them on hand for the end of August.
