Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />DATE: July 25, 2016 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council members <br />Susan Iverson, Interim City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: John Anderson, Acting Public Works Director <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Emerald Ash Borer Treatment Proposal <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br />$5,000 $3,276 Permanent Infrastructure <br />Revolving Fund (PIR) <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Accept Proposal from Precision Landscape and Tree Inc., in the amount of $3,276 for <br />preventative treatment of ash trees in City Parks. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />In 2014, the City of Arden Hills initiated a forestry management program in response to the <br />Emerald Ash Borer. Public trees in City parks were inventoried and their condition was <br />assessed. A report was shared with the City Council dated February 18, 2014, laying out the <br />findings and recommendations as a result of the inventory. Tree removal and treatments <br />followed in 2014 and it was recommended that the treatments be repeated every two years. <br /> <br />Staff has solicited a proposal from Precision Landscape and Tree Inc., the City’s tree contractor, <br />for treatment of these trees in 2016.
