40 <br /> <br />PROTECTIVE INSPECTIONS <br /> <br />Function: Public Safety <br />Supervisor: Building Official <br />Fund#: 101 <br />Activity#: 42400 <br /> <br />Activity Scope <br /> <br />This department is responsible for all building construction, plumbing, sanitary sewer, water and <br />mechanical inspections within the City. Electrical inspections are contracted for by an <br />independent inspection firm. This department is also responsible for enforcement of the Zoning <br />Code and other sections of the City Code of Ordinances. <br /> <br />Objectives <br /> <br />1. Sign Ordinance. <br />2. Continue implementation of the building codes. <br />3. Continue to work on Building Permit software to produce Council reports. <br /> <br />Issues <br /> <br />1. Managing and prioritizing department workloads <br />2. Keep up with rental license inspections of investor owned residential properties <br />3. Continued implementation and design of new Building Permit software and reports <br /> <br />Measureable Workload Data <br /> <br />None developed at this time. <br /> <br />Budget Commentary <br /> <br />The 2017 operating budget is an increase of 3.68% from the previous year’s budget. This is <br />mainly due to personal services increases and associated benefits, and additional technology and <br />software charges. <br /> <br />
