AGENDA ITEMS

A. Motion to Adopt Resolution 2016-033 Approving the Grant Agreement Between
the Metropolitan Council and the City of Arden Hills for 2015 Sanitary Sewer
Lining Project, subject to Minor Modifications and Final Review by City Attorney.

Acting City Engineer Polka stated in April 2015, the City approved a contract with Hydro-Klean
for the 2015 Sanitary Sewer Lining Project in the amount of $507,465.50. The project was
initiated in response to surcharges by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) for
exceeding the maximum sanitary sewer flows allowed from various meter sheds due to
inflow/infiltration into the sanitary sewer system. The City applied for the 2014 MCES Municipal
Grant Program for reimbursement for a percentage of the construction cost for the Sanitary Sewer
Lining Project and was notified of approval to participate in the program.

Acting City Engineer Polka explained the next step in the Grant Program process is to submit
final construction cost information and along with a resolution authorizing the City to enter into a
Grant Agreement for the final reimbursement. While the final amount is not known at this time,
the initial estimate is $37,295.31.
