The <br />excerpt of the November 9, 2016 Planning Commission Meeting Minutes are provided as <br />Attachment A. The November 9, 2016 Planning Commission Staff Report and its attachments <br />are proved as Attachments B through K. <br /> <br />The University of Northwestern has a purchase agreement on the former Smiths Medical <br />building at 1265 Grey Fox Road to construct a science, technology, engineering, and math <br />(STEM) facility for up 646 students and 66 faculty and staff members. The Zoning Code <br />Amendment and Conditional Use Permit have been requested to allow for the remodeling of the <br />former Smiths Medical into the STEM facility. President Alan Cureton testified at the Planning <br />Commission meeting that the former Smiths Medical site would save the University of <br />Northwestern significant money over new construction, that the facility would train future <br />employees for existing high technology Arden Hills businesses and that the University would <br />like to explore a City, College, and Corporation partnership to provide the STEM facility. <br /> <br />
