<br />_____________________________________________________________________________________________ <br />City of Arden Hills <br />City Council Meeting for March 20, 2017 <br />P:\Admin\Council\Agendas & Packet Information\2017\03-20-17-WS\Matthew\1C 2040 Comp <br />Plan\Memo.docx <br /> <br />Page 3 of 4 <br /> <br />• The existing 2030 Comprehensive Plan is a useful document in its current form. <br /> <br />• A number of significant amendments have recently been made to the 2030 <br />Comprehensive Plan, including an amendment in December 2016 for the TCAAP <br />development. <br /> <br />• The Higher Education Study currently underway will be completed in time to provide <br />recommendations for any economic development updates needed in the 2040 <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />City Vision and Chapter Goals <br />Since the City has determined that the 2030 Comprehensive Plan is a useful document for <br />guiding future decisions regarding community development, it would be helpful for the City <br />Council and Planning Commission to review the existing City Vision and Goals for each chapter <br />of the Comprehensive Plan and determine if any revisions are needed: <br /> <br />• City Vision: Arden Hills is a strong community that values its unique environmental <br />setting, strong residential neighborhoods, vital business community, well-maintained <br />infrastructure, fiscal soundness, and our long-standing tradition as a desirable City in <br />which to live, work, and play. <br /> <br />• Active Living: Enhance the health, safety, and well-being of all who live, work, and play <br />in the City. <br /> <br />• TCAAP Redevelopment: Develop TCAAP in a way that accommodates a mix of land uses <br />that is sensitive to the natural environment, economically sustainable, and of benefit to <br />the community. <br /> <br />• Land Use: Develop and maintain a land use pattern that strengthens the vitality, quality, <br />and character of our residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and industrial areas <br />while protecting the community’s natural resources and developing a sustainable pattern <br />for future development. <br /> <br />• Housing: Develop and maintain a strong, vital, diverse and stable housing supply for all <br />members of the community. <br /> <br />• Economic Development and Redevelopment: Promote the development, redevelopment, <br />and maintenance of a viable, innovative, and diverse business environment serving Arden <br />Hills and the metropolitan area. <br />
