<br />City of Arden Hills <br />Planning Commission Meeting for March 9, 2016 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: March 9, 2016 PC Agenda Item 5.A <br /> <br />TO: Planning Commission <br /> <br />FROM: Matthew Bachler, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Report from the City Council <br /> <br /> <br />February 16, 2016, City Council Work Session <br /> <br />The City Council reviewed a proposal from the Mounds View High School to replace the <br />scoreboard and press box at their football stadium and construct a storage shed adjacent to the <br />baseball field. If Mounds View High School decides to move forward with the proposed changes <br />to the athletic complex a Conditional Use Permit Amendment would be required along with a <br />variance for the height of the new scoreboard. This request would be reviewed by the Planning <br />Commission before formal City Council action. <br /> <br /> <br />February 29, 2016, City Council Regular Meeting <br /> <br />The City Council approved Planning Case 15-020 to amend Sections 1305.04, 1320.05, and <br />1325.046 of the Zoning Code regarding retail and thrift store businesses. With the approved <br />amendment, thrift stores would be permitted as a conditional use in the B-4 and I-Flex Districts. <br />This case was reviewed by the Planning Commission at their regular meeting on February 3, <br />2016. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the proposed amendment (3-2, <br />Holewa and Bartel), but recommended that thrift stores also be allowed as a conditional use in <br />the B-2 and B-3 Districts. <br /> <br />The City Council also approved Planning Case 16-004 for a Site Plan Review and Deadline <br />Extension Request for Boston Scientific at 4100 Hamline Avenue North. This case was reviewed <br />by the Planning Commission at their regular meeting on February 3, 2016, and received a <br />unanimous recommendation for approval. <br />
