(revised 1/31/11) <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Time of Construction. No accessory structure shall be constructed on <br />any lot prior to the time of construction of the principal structure to which it is <br />accessory. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 Height. <br /> <br />A. R-1, R-2, and R-3 Districts. Accessory structures in the R-1, R-2, and <br />R-3 Districts shall not exceed fifteen feet in height or the height of the <br />principal structure to which it is accessory, whichever is lower. <br /> <br />B. All Other Districts. Accessory structures in all other Zoning Districts <br />shall not exceed the height of the principal structure to which it is <br />accessory. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 Location. (revised 7/7/11) <br /> <br />A. Accessory structures in the R-1, R-2, or R-3 Districts shall not be <br />located nearer the front lot line than the front yard setback line for the <br />principal structure to which it is accessory. Accessory structures as <br />permitted and regulated in this Code may be located within the rear yard <br />of the principal structure in the R-1 and R-2 Districts. <br /> <br />B. Detached accessory garages may be located in the front yard <br />(between dwelling and street) of a lakeshore property provided all of the <br />following are met: <br /> <br />1. Detached garages shall not be located within the minimum front <br />yard setback. <br /> <br />2. Color and roof material of detached garages shall match or <br />complement the existing primary residential structure, and shall <br />conform to all other requirements for the zoning district. <br /> <br />Subd. 4 Size. (revised 2/9/11) <br /> <br />A. R-1, R-2, and R-3 Districts. <br /> <br />1. Accessory structures associated with residential uses shall not <br />exceed seven hundred and twenty-eight (728) square feet in floor <br />area. Accessory structures associated with non-residential uses shall <br />not exceed two thousand one hundred eighty-four (2,184) square feet <br />in floor area; and, <br />
