Joynes, Sr., City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/ City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Perry Park Playground Concrete Work <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Authorize the purchase and installation of concrete curb and sidewalk for the Perry Park <br />playground from Norsk Concrete Construction, Inc. in the amount of $15,770.00. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The existing play structure at Perry Park was installed in the summer of 1997. The play structure <br />is a steel structure that is showing signs of wear. The wood surrounding the structure is in poor <br />condition and the steel is rusting. The 2016 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) identified the <br />play structure replacement in 2016. Council approved the purchase and installation of the new <br />play structure at the April 20, 2017 Council meeting. <br /> <br />Public Works staff has removed the old equipment and is grading the site to bring it in <br />compliance with current accessibility standards. Staff has received two quotes to install the <br />ribbon curbing around the play area, install sidewalk along the parking lot to the dog park and <br />install a pedestrian ramp at the parking lot (Attachment A). <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Quotes were received from Norsk Concrete Construction, Inc. and Midwest Concrete Services, <br />Inc. Norsk submitted the lowest quote at $15,770.00 (Attachment B).
