PUBLIC COMMENTS ON TCAAP MASTER PLANNING PROCESS - updated 9/25/13
COMMENT
SOURCE
CITY/ORG CATEGORY(IES) COMMENT
OH #1 New Brighton Site Distribution,
Land Uses
In some of the earlier planning processes, the idea of keeping commercial & retail buildings to the
west, closest to Hwy 10 is good. This would keep residential housing to the east & will provide
some sound buffer to the freeway noise. The center "canal" running north to south for storm
water looked promising. Today it seems there is a lot of senior housing being developed in our
area. Do we need more? Single homes should have a decent yard. Homes built by Pratt-Harbor
Place in Shoreview, were too big for the size of the lots.
OH #1 Land Uses,
Environmental
Concerns,
Maintenance,
Lighting
I don’t think this area should be destination shopping. Roseville is saturated, and to the north a
few miles on 35W & Lexington, there is plenty. Keep retail shops, that are needed for local
residents needs. Keeping the commercial businesses "lite" will minimize truck traffic. Interior
park spaces should have lawn & vegetation. Fast food joints must be outlawed! We need more
smaller diners serving GMO free food. The City should enlist the help of goats to roam around &
prevent buckhorn from ever getting a foothold. Negotiate with deer to stay over in the Army
Reserve land. Coyotes & Fox will be more difficult to keep out unless homeowners are forced to
keep their cats indoors. Street lighting should be kept at a bare minimum. This would facilitate a
better viewing of the Bison Comet - due this fall. The mainstreet shops design used at Silver Lake
in St Anthony & up at the area off 35W & Lexington is desirable, however, they did not provide
adequate boulevard from the roads & parking, for winter snow storage. This will be a nightmare
for businesses along the Central Corridor LRT along University Avenue. We still live in Minnesota.
It seems the planners aren't from here. Wait till it snows. I could keep going, but there is no more
room. More later.
Park area north end
Multi use RC Site
RC Airplane, helicopter, boats
OH #1 Trails Mountain Bike Trail "single track"
OH #1 Arden Hills Land Uses, Site
Distribution
SEE ATTACHED - provided drawing and notes
Saint Paul RC Open SpaceOH #1
5
