<br />City of Arden Hills <br />Economic Development Commission June 7, 2017 <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: June 7, 2017 EDC Agenda Item 5.B <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Chair and Commissioners <br /> <br />FROM: Matthew Bachler, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: State of the City <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The City Council discussed the 2017 State of the City at their Work Session on May 15, 2017. <br />The City Council supported the recommendation from the EDC that the morning event be held at <br />the Tavern Grill restaurant and that it focus on topics relevant to businesses, such as <br />transportation improvements and current development projects. <br /> <br />Staff has confirmed with the Tavern Grill restaurant that the morning event could be held on <br />Thursday, September 28 at 7:30 a.m. Staff will be following-up with Tavern Grill regarding <br />estimated costs for catering. <br /> <br />The evening event will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, October 3 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The following advertising and promotion methods were used last year, and staff recommends a <br />similar communication strategy this year: <br />• News item on the City’s homepage and business news page <br />• Regular promotion on City’s social media sites (Facebook and Twitter) <br />• Eventbrite page <br />• Advertisements in Shoreview-Arden Hills Bulletin (2) <br />• Citywide postcard mailing <br />• City newsletter announcements <br />• Email invitation to businesses and stakeholder list <br />• Postcard delivery to local businesses by EDC members <br />• City Council meeting announcements <br />• News item on the Cable Bulletin <br /> <br />
