20 <br /> <br />PLANNING & ZONING <br /> <br />Function: General Government <br />Supervisor: Community Development Director <br />Fund#: 101 <br />Activity#: 41910 <br /> <br />Activity Scope <br /> <br />The City’s Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for all planning and zoning related <br />functions of the City. Activities administered by this department include requests for variances, <br />subdivisions, re-zonings, zoning code amendments, signs, conditional use permits, compliance <br />with City Ordinances, and other land use issues. The Planners work closely with Protective <br />Inspections, Code Enforcement, and Community Development. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission, consisting of seven members appointed annually by the City Council, <br />meets monthly to review the above requests and to make recommendations to the City Council in <br />an advisory capacity. <br /> <br />Objectives <br /> <br />1. Continue to work on Rental Housing registrations. <br />2. Continue improvements of the City’s planning process. <br />3. Develop zoning on the TCAAP property. <br /> <br />Issues <br /> <br />1. Rental Housing registrations <br />2. Refine Building Permit process <br />3. Research and refine an Administrative Fines process <br /> <br />Measurable Workload Data <br /> <br />None developed at this time. <br /> <br />Budget Commentary <br /> <br />The budget for 2018 is a total decrease of 19.51% over the 2017 budget. The Personal Services <br />budget decreased by 55.36%, reflecting the change resulting from moving employee costs to <br />Other Services as a large portion of this department is staffed by outside consultants. This <br />change increased Other Services by approximately 21.46%. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
