ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL – AUGUST 14, 2017 7 <br /> <br />9. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />A. College Rental Properties <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden requested an update from staff on College Rental Properties. <br /> <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka commented she had no report on this item. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant stated he had a brief conversation with the President of Bethel University. <br /> <br />Interim Director of Finance and Administrative Services Perrault reported City staff were <br />attempting to schedule meetings with the Deans from Bethel and Northwestern. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant requested staff set these meetings and report back to the Council as soon as <br />possible. <br /> <br />10. COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott stated he attended the 3rd Annual Bark & Rec Event on Saturday, July <br />29th. He thanked all of the staff members and residents who were able to attend this event. He <br />noted Perry Park and Hazelnut Park were the City’s designated dog parks. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott reported the new speed zone signs at Valentine Hills Elementary School <br />were installed today. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott commented on the eight Night to Unite events that he attended on <br />Tuesday, August 1. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott commended the Public Works Department for taking a proactive stance on <br />the inspection of the City’s fire hydrants. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmes stated the Planning Commission did not have a quorum at their last <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden questioned where the City was in the process of hiring a City Attorney. <br /> <br />Mayor Grant commented six firms applied and this was screened down by the staff to four firms. <br />It was determined by the Personnel Committee that the full Council should interview the final <br />four candidates. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden explained she received complaints from the Glenarden neighborhood at <br />Night to Unite regarding the rental properties in their neighborhood. She discussed how <br />neighborhoods were changing over and explained the City needed to keep this in mind in order to <br />meet the needs of community within its City parks. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden requested an update on GreenStep Cities. <br />
