Joynes, Sr., City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: 2017 Seal Coat Bids <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br />$150,000 Low Bid $49,572.73 <br /> <br />Streets Operating Budget <br /> <br />Requested Action <br />Adopt Resolution 2017-024 Awarding the 2017 Seal Coat Project to Allied Blacktop Company, <br />as the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $49,572.73. <br /> <br />Discussion <br />The 2017 General Fund identifies $150,000 in the Streets operating budget for street resurfacing <br />and seal coating. On July 24, 2017, the City Council adopted Resolution 2017-021 approving <br />plans and specifications for the 2017 Seal Coat Project. Bids were opened on August 15, 2017. <br /> <br />Two contractors submitted bids. The following table provides the bidder’s name and the total of <br />their bid and attached is a complete bid tabulation: <br /> <br />Bidder Base Bid (2017 Completion) <br />Allied Blacktop Company $49,572.73 <br />Pearson Bros., Inc. $64,551.03 <br /> <br />The low bid was submitted by Allied Blacktop Company, out of Maple Grove, Minnesota, in the <br />amount of $49,572.73. <br /> <br />Allied Blacktop Company, has successfully completed similar projects in Brooklyn Park, Hugo, <br />Blaine, and Saint Louis Park.
