CIVIL DEFENSE SIRENS
Public Works Superintendent Jeff Frid stated that the City currently has four outdated sirens
that are 30+ years old. Ramsey County is upgrading their triggering system and we are being
required to update ours as well. He pointed out the current sirens and decibel levels that are in
place in the City as shown on Attachment B. The minimum we need to do to meet Ramsey
County requirements is put new controllers in the current sirens. However, if we purchase the
proposed new sirens but keep the current sites the City would be covered with only two of the
new sirens.
Mayor David Grant directed Staff to bring the item forward to the next Council meeting.
