Arden Hills should consult the <br />complete 2040 Regional Parks Policy Plan in preparing its local comprehensive plan. In addition, Arden <br />Hills should consult Thrive MSP 2040 and the current version of the Metropolitan Council’s Local <br />Planning Handbook for specific information needed in its comprehensive plan. <br />System Plan Considerations Affecting Your Community <br />Regional Parks System Components in your community <br />The following Regional Parks System Components within Arden Hills as identified in the 2040 Regional <br />Parks Policy Plan are listed below. <br />Regional Parks, Park Reserves, and Special Recreation Features <br />Tony Schmidt Regional Park: This is an existing regional park with an established boundary. The <br />regional park boundary as shown in Figure 2 should be acknowledged in the comprehensive plan. <br />Regional Trails <br />Highway 96 Regional Trail: This is a regional trail that includes segments that are open to the public <br />as well as planned segments that will be developed in the future. The regional trail travels through New <br />Brighton, Arden Hills, Shoreview, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Township and White Bear Lake. <br />Connects to Long Lake Regional Park, Rice Creek North Regional Trail, the Lexington Parkway <br />Regional Trail Search Corridor, Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park, Birch Lake Regional Trail and <br />Bruce Vento Regional Trail. The regional trail alignment as shown in Figure 2 should be acknowledged <br />in the comprehensive plan. <br />Rice Creek North Regional Trail: This is a planned regional trail that is not yet open to the public. <br />The planned regional trail travels through New Brighton, Arden Hills, Shoreview, Circle Pines, and Lino <br />Lakes as it connects Long Lake Regional Park, Rice Creek West Regional Trail, Highway 96 Regional <br />Trail, Lexington Parkway Regional Trail Search Corridor, and Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve. <br />The regional trail alignment as shown in Figure 2 should be acknowledged in the comprehensive plan. <br />Lexington Avenue/Parkway Regional Trail Search Corridor: The regional trail search corridor <br />travels through Saint Paul, Roseville, Arden Hills, and Shoreview as it connects Hidden Falls-Crosby <br />Farm Regional Park, Sam Morgan Regional Trail, Summit Regional Trail Search Corridor, Como <br />Regional Park, Zoo, and Conservatory, Northeast Diagonal Regional Trail Search Corridor, Highway 96 <br />Regional Trail and Rice Creek North Regional Trail. Ramsey County will lead a planning process in the <br />future to determine the alignment of the regional trail. When preparing its comprehensive plan, Arden <br />Hills should verify whether a master plan has been approved by the Metropolitan Council. If a master <br />plan has been approved, the planned regional trail alignment should be acknowledged in the
