_________________________________________________________________________________________

Economic Impact of the Business and Industrial Zones

The following tables illustrate some opportunities within the Arden Hills zoning code for each of
the fourteen (14) industry sectors. As stated above, the industries in Category 1 are the most
valuable for a local economy in terms of salary based on building square footage. In general, if a
city chooses to attract Category 1 and Category 2 industries, Category 3 industries will generally
follow based on market forces.

This table illustrates the permitted or conditional uses allowed within the transitional
neighborhood/business zones (Neighborhood Business District and B-1 District). These zones
currently permit ten (10) of the fourteen (14) industries and three (3) of the four (4) industries
within Category 1. The difference in economic impact is only in the Category 3 industries which
have the lowest overall impact.
NAISC Classification Salary/1,000 Sq. Ft.NAISC Classification Salary/1,000 Sq.
