Joynes, Sr., City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Ordinance 2017-011 –Extended On-Sale Hours for the 2018 Super Bowl <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $ $ $ <br /> <br />Council Should Consider the Following Options <br /> <br />Adoption of Ordinance 2017-011 Providing for the Issuance of Special Permits Authorizing <br />Extended Closing Times for On-Sale Liquor Establishments during the 2018 Super Bowl <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At its work session on November 20, 2017, the Council was provided with information pertaining to <br />a new law passed by the Legislature that allows establishments serving liquor to remain open from <br />12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on three days (Friday, February 2, 2018, through 4:00 am on Monday, February <br />5, 2018), in conjunction with the 2018 Super Bowl festivities. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />The Council considered providing licensees this option and recommended staff move forward with <br />the Ordinance. It should be noted that before businesses can participate in the extended hours, they <br />must be issued a special 4:00 am permit by the City. Upon approval of the attached Ordinance, staff <br />will mail a letter and a permit application to the city’s on-sale businesses (of which there are seven <br />eligible establishments).
