1 <br /> <br /> <br />Uniform Policy <br />June 1, 2017 <br /> <br /> <br />Scope <br />This policy applies to both full time and seasonal Public Works employees. <br />Purpose <br />As a City employee it is essential to establish a professional image both to the public and other agencies. <br />The purpose of this policy is to create uniformity and promote a high level of pride within the <br />department. This policy will address the mandatory dress code adopted by the city to be enforced and <br />executed by the public works superintendent. In addition, there are OSHA and safety guidelines that are <br />mandatory and must be followed by Public Works employees. <br /> <br /> <br />Policy <br />It is the intention of this policy to create an expectation of excellence and professionalism. Taking into <br />account safety concerns and vender availability, the public works superintendent may deviate from the <br />following guidelines at his/her discretion. <br />1. Employees are required to wear approved city logoed garments on the most outer layer. <br />2. To maintain a professional image, clothing shall remain free of rips, excessive stains, and <br />modifications of any type. <br />3. In the event a city logoed shirt or sweatshirt becomes excessively worn or damaged from on the <br />job duties, a replacement will be provided at the discretion of the superintendent. <br />4. The superintendent will maintain an inventory of on-hand clothing stock. <br />5. Employees are required to wear a light tan or dark brown cargo style work pant. During the <br />summer months shorts are permitted in tan or dark brown (excludes assignments requiring <br />pants due to safety). Shorts are required to fall just above the knee and shall not be excessively <br />small or large fitting. <br />6. All Public works employees are expected to follow MN OSHA safety standards for reflectivity on <br />the job regardless of extreme temperatures. <br />7. Steel or composite toe work boots are provided by the city and required while on the job. <br />Purchasing will be done through a vendor chosen by the superintendent.
