A geotechnical investigation was completed in August of 2016 and it was
determined that the court needed to be reconstructed and due to the underlying soils,
reconstruction was cost prohibitive.

Staff held a neighborhood meeting with the Johanna Marsh residents and presented two
playground layouts as well as receiving input on park amenities. The playground concepts were
generally well received. On October 23, 2017, the City Council accepted a grant in the amount
of $31,786 and authorized the purchase of playground equipment for the park. To date, the
equipment has been ordered.

WSB had previously prepared three concept sketches for the park based on resident’s comments.
Preliminary estimates were completed and the concept that is within a $125,000 budget is shown
on Attachment A. It is staff’s recommendation to approve the scope and fee with WSB. A
council work session is currently scheduled in February to discuss the park design. It would be
beneficial to have WSB present at the work session to provide information on the concepts that
have been considered to date.

Attachments
A – Johanna Marsh Park Concept Sketch
B – WSB Scope and Fee
