Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6J <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: February 12, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Resolution 2018-013 Approving LG230 Application to Conduct Off-Site <br />Gambling for Merrick, Inc. at Flaherty’s <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> $ $ $ <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />Approving Resolution 2018-013 Approving LG230 Application to Conduct Off-Site Gambling <br />for Merrick, Inc. <br /> <br />Background/Discussion <br /> <br />This City has received an application from Merrick, Inc. for an off-site gambling permit to <br />conduct gambling activity at Flaherty’s Arden Bowl. The event will take place on April 15, <br />2018. Per Minnesota’s Lawful Gambling regulations, Merrick, Inc. is required to obtain <br />acknowledgment and approval by resolution from the City to conduct off-site gambling. <br />This is Merrick, Inc.’s 16th year of the Annual Bowl-A-Thon and raffle. All proceeds of the event <br />will go towards supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Merrick, <br />Inc., which is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to empowering adults with <br />disabilities. Merrick, Inc. is one of the largest Day Training and Habilitation (DT&H) programs <br />in the state. The money raised at this event with help provide services to its clients (self- <br />advocacy; social/leisure activities; physical, occupational, speech, and sensory therapies; and a <br />retirement program). <br /> <br />Attachments <br /> <br />Attachment A: LG230 Application <br />Attachment B: Resolution 2018-013
