ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL – JUNE 25, 2018 4

None.

10. NEW BUSINESS

A. Construction Waiver for June 26 through August 15, 2018 – County Road F
Improvement Project

Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka stated C. S. McCrossan, the Contractor for the
County Road F Improvement Project, has requested the ability to complete portions of the
construction in the early morning beginning at 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. on
Saturday, Sunday and holidays. This request is being made to lessen traffic impacts and improve
scheduling of various construction activities. C. S. McCrossan has requested that early morning
work be allowed throughout the project duration. City Ordinance does allow for a Waiver to the
Ordinance to allow night time operations. Staff reviewed the specific wording of the Ordinance
with the Council and recommended the Council approve a construction wavier for June 26
through August 15 for the County Road F Improvement Project.

Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka reported staff sent notices to all residents living
within 500 feet of the project area. She explained staff received one objection from the Arden
Flats manager who recommended the request be denied.

Councilmember McClung asked what the anticipated completion date was for this project.

Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka stated weather permitting the project should be
completed by August 15.

Mayor Grant asked if the waiver was not granted if the project would take longer to complete.

Public Works Director/City Engineer Polka reported this was not necessarily the case, but
rather C.S. McCrossan was making the request for mobilization and traffic reasons.

Mayor Grant commented he supported the waiver request.

Councilmember Holmes agreed stating the request was reasonable.

MOTION: Councilmember McClung moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a
motion to approve the Night Time Construction Activity Waiver for the County
Road F Improvement Project between Tuesday, June 26 and Wednesday, August
15, 2018.
