Arden Hills - 2018 Land Use Application
Brief Description of Request

Journey Home MN, a MN based non-profit, has purchased the property at 3246 New Brighton Road in
Arden Hills from the Lake Johanna Fire Department and is making plans to redevelop the property
consistent with its mission:

Creating affordable housing for disabled military veterans in safe
cities served by great schools

This document discusses our plans to develop 4 housing units on the 2.83 acre site. We are seeking
permission to build four (4) single family homes on the property. The existing buildings will be torn
down.
This development has 4 aggressive goals:
• The homes will be constructed to be ADA compliant
• The homes will be “net zero”, creating more energy than they use
• The homes will be smart homes, focusing on technology and sustainability.
• From a cost perspective, the homes will be on par, or less, with traditional building costs.
We believe this will be the first privately funded project to provide affordable housing to 4 disabled
veteran’s families in a home that has a net zero foot print, is ADA compliant & contains other cutting
edge features.

Leadership Team:
This project uses many volunteers – especially in the planning process. Current members of our
Leadership team include:
Co – Leaders: Blake Huffman, Ramsey County Commissioner
Jason Isaacson, Minnesota State Senator

Bob Jacobson Retired New Brighton Public Safety Director
Jonathan Weinhagen Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce President
