Common construction features have made energy efficiency easier to achieve. Working with a group of
highly trained energy efficiency professionals, we have an aggressive goal of creating a home where the
tenant will have a utility bill of $0.
Energy Creation: The primary method to create net zero is energy creation. We have had solar experts
design our system and are planning to use solar panels to create energy. These panels will located on
the fire house and the north single family home. (The southern home is too close to the neighboring
property and a series of trees and will not house solar panels.)
Construction: Along with creating energy, it is obviously important to build a very “tight” house. We will
use the highest efficiency windows and doors. Walls be constructed using Insulated Concrete Forms
(ICF), Double wall or traditional 2x6 construction with spray foam insulation.
In late January, The Clean Energy Resource Team (www.cleanenergyresourceteams.org), a statewide
partnership with a shared mission to identify and implement community-based clean energy projects,
will announce this development as a grantee.

Association:
The entire development will be under an association. This will insure that grass will be cut regularly and
professionally as well as snow removal in the winter time. The association will also be the vehicle that
allows solar panels to be places in one area and used elsewhere.
