Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />DATE: September 10, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />David Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Old Snelling Avenue Bridge Replacement Contract Award <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br /> $1,750,000 $392,514 PIR, MnDOT Bridge Bonding <br /> Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The City Council is requested to adopt Resolution 2018-058 Awarding the Old Snelling Avenue <br />Bridge Replacement Contract to Veit & Company, Inc. in the amount of $392,514.00. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />On July 9, 2018, the City Council authorized Kimley-Horn to complete the plans and move <br />forward with bidding the bridge project. Bids were opened on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. <br /> <br />There were a total of four bids received. The following table lists the bidders name and their total <br />bid: <br /> <br /> Bidder Total Bid <br />Veit & Company, Inc. $392,514.00 <br />Alcon Construction Corp. $392,540.55 <br />Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. $402,496.00 <br />Eureka Construction, Inc. $419,538.00 <br /> <br /> <br />The bids are lower than the Engineer’s estimate which is $508,420.00. The bid tabulation is <br />included as Attachment A. The bid was separated into the following schedules: <br /> <br />Veit & Company, Inc. has completed similar projects successfully in the metro area. Attached is <br />a letter (Attachment B) from Kimley-Horn recommending award to Veit as the lowest <br />NEW BUSINESS – 9E <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />
