Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />DATE: October 8, 2018 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />David Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Old Snelling Watermain and Trail – Payment No. 5 and Change Order No. 3 <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br /> $3,376,269.85 $3,862,530.41 Ramsey County/MSAS, PIR, <br /> Development Reimbursement, <br /> Water Utility <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br /> <br />The City Council is requested to approve: <br />• Change Order No. 3 for the Old Snelling Trail and Watermain Improvements Project in <br />the amount of $124,570.73. <br />• Payment No. 5 for the Old Snelling Trail and Watermain Improvements Project to <br />Sunram Construction, Inc. in the amount of $755,419.24. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />On March 26, 2018, the City Council adopted Resolution 2018-022 Awarding the Old Snelling <br />Trail and Watermain Improvements to Sunram Construction, Inc. in the amount of <br />$3,376,269.85. On June 11, 2018, the City Council approved the first payment in the amount of <br />$270,512.93. On June 25, 2018, the City Council approved the second payment in the amount of <br />$582,541.66. On August 13, 2018, the City Council approved the third payment in the amount <br />of $776,494.00, which included two change orders. On September 10, 2018, the City Council <br />approved the fourth payment in the amount of $708,716.22. <br /> <br />During construction of the retaining walls, it was determined that the soils were such that the <br />walls could not be constructed as designed. The wall redesigns required additional materials not <br />originally included in the contract. Work in this change order includes: helical pile extensions <br />needed for retaining Wall #3, reinforcement for the concrete footing of Wall #3, the reinforced <br />soil stabilization used in place of Wall #1, additional detour signage and traffic control, and a <br />CONSENT ITEM – 6C <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />
