<br />Comprehensive Sanitary Sewer Plan <br />City of Arden Hills, MN <br />WSB Project No. 3455-20 Page 11 <br />Peak Flow Factors <br />To ensure that the sanitary sewer system is capable of handling flow fluctuations throughout the <br />day, peak flow factors are assigned based on average flows. The peak factors are provided by <br />the Metropolitan Council and are based on average flow volumes. Pipes that serve small <br />generator customers are more likely to experience large fluctuations in flows. Therefore, the <br />peak factor decreases as average flow increases. The Metropolitan Council peak flow factors <br />used in this report are shown in Figure 4 below. These factors include consideration of inflow <br />and infiltration. <br />Figure 4.
