DATE: November 13, 2018

TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
Dave Perrault, City Administrator

FROM: Sue Polka, Public Works Director/City Engineer

SUBJECT: Lift Station 6 – Replacement Pumps and Piping

Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources:
$65,000 $75,711 Sanitary Sewer Utility
Council Should Consider
Authorizing the acceptance of the proposal from Electric Pump Company in the amount of $75,711.00
for the pumps, piping, control panel, crane/winch and safety hatch for the rehabilitation of Lift Station
6.

Background/Discussion
In 2010, Public Works undertook a process to standardize the City’s 14 lift stations. Until that time, the
City had several different types of pumps, different controllers and different software operating the
controller. Through several months of evaluating different pump and controller manufacturers,
including site visits to two repair facilities, the Public Works Department developed a standard for all
lift stations. Since that process was completed, the City totally rebuilt four of our oldest lift stations
(#1, #11, #12 and #13) and retrofitted six others (#2, #4, #5, #7, #8 and #9). In addition, the City
changed the way the lift stations are monitored by converting all 14 stations to the Omni System.

This proposal includes pumps and associated piping, control panel, electric winch and safety hatch.
These items are necessary to update the lift station for operational and maintenance purposes. The
addition of the crane and safety hatch will allow for staff to maintain the lift station with proper safety
protocols in place. The proposal is itemized as follows:

Item Cost
Replacement Pumps and Piping $32,326.00
Control Panel $35,137.00
Crane with Electric Winch $6,263,00
Safety Hatch $1,985.00
TOTAL $75,711.00

Attachment

Attachment A: Electric Pump Proposal for equipment for Lift Station #11
CONSENT – 6K
MEMORANDUM
