Exterior Lighting – Section 1325.05, Subd. 3 The site currently has six light poles in and near the project area. Two of the light poles will remain in place and be protected throughout construction. Four light poles will be removed and salvaged. The proposed lighting plan includes six light poles along the new sidewalks in addition to the two light poles that will remain. The light locations are in the center of the site and will not be directed toward adjacent lots or public streets. There will be exterior, code-required light fixtures above two doors. There will also be recessed can lighting under the second floor cantilever on the north and west sides of the building. H. Screening and Fencing – Section 1325.05, Subd. 4 The building is located near the center of the site, and there are no adjacent streets. The site plan indicates that rooftop mechanical equipment will be screened with metal panel louver screens. The City Council approval of the CUP Amendment and Variance in March 2018 also required Bethel University to provide vegetative screening or other type of buffer along the Valentine Lake shoreline. The proposed Landscape Plan includes six trees that will be planted between the shores of Lake Valentine and the building addition. An existing large oak tree located between the building addition and the shores of Lake Valentine will remain and be protected throughout construction, preserving existing screening. I. Parking, Loading, and Circulation – Section 1325.06 The proposed addition is not anticipated to generate additional parking demand on the campus because the addition will support existing academic programs and the already planned for student population on the campus.
