Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />DATE: May 20, 2019 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />David Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Dawn Skelly, Communications Coordinator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: State of the City Presentation <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br /> N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Review the purpose of the State of the City event (s), along with recommendations following last year’s <br />events and recent ideas discussed at the May EDC meeting and decide what will remain the same and <br />what might be changed for the 2019 State of the City. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The annual State of the City events provide businesses and residents with information about City <br />projects and goals. The 2018 event was held at the Tavern Grill restaurant and then a video of the <br />presentation was shown at a later date at City Hall to interested persons. The morning event was <br />videotaped and aired on CTV Channel 16 and available online. <br /> <br />The State of the City has generally followed a consistent PowerPoint presentation format with topics <br />including the City’s finances, TCAAP and other development projects, new business news and <br />expansion stories, and engineering, public works and parks updates. Representatives from the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation have also been invited each year to provide updates on local <br />transportation projects. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br />Staff would like to have a discussion with the Council about the event, including intended audiences, <br />timing, location, content and format in light of staff observations/recommendations and EDC <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />Attachment: <br /> <br />A: 2019 State of the City Discussion Points <br />AGENDA ITEM – 1D <br /> MEMORANDUM <br />
