AGENDA ITEMS

A. Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office Update

Commander Waldo gave a brief history of his background with the Sheriff’s Department.

Undersheriff Ramacher discussed the dedicated traffic deputies and the possibility of bringing
retired Deputy Kevin Otto back for six months. August 1st will start the new hands-free driving
law, road construction will push more traffic to the city and State Fair parking were reasons given
to consider another traffic deputy.

Councilmember Scott noted that State Fair parking was much better last year due to having more
no parking signs.

Undersheriff Ramacher said the State Fair keeps expanding into their own parking lots, forcing
people to find other places to park.

Councilmember Holden said she thought it was not necessary to put State Fair no parking signs
every ten feet but felt that the Sheriff’s department wouldn’t enforce it unless they did.
