This crossing will be at
grade. There are a number of trails that cross each other throughout the park as well, these have been limited
as much as possible. In the even that a vehicular road is crossed by a trail stop signs will stop vehicles before
crossing the trail. Additional signage along the trail and road will notify drivers and trail users of the intersection
and to use caution. In the event that two trails cross each other in the park faster moving recreation elements
will be asked to stop for slower moving recreation elements. Off road cycling trails would be asked to stop for
cross country ski/hiking trails which in turn would be asked to stop before crossing paved regional trail segments.
At grade crossing improvements are anticipated at all of the major road crossings throughout the regional trail
corridor. Improvements may consist of separated grades either underpasses or overpasses, changes in road
structure to provide pedestrian refuge islands, speed bumps, neckdowns, warning signs, speed reductions,
flashing beacons, or a combination of strategies. A list of major road crossings and proposed enhancements
includes
• Lexington Avenue North
-Crossing is currently served via an underpass which may need improvements in the future
• County Road I Trailhead
-Separated grade crossing, either an underpass or overpass
-Pedestrian refuge island
-Flashing beacons
-Warning Signs
Bridge Linking Long Lake & Rice Creek North
