Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM – 1B <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: August 19, 2019 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Met Council Grant Opportunity <br /> <br /> Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> N/A $5,000 Water Fund <br /> <br />For Council Consideration <br /> <br />The City Council may consider providing further direction on the Met Council’s grant <br />opportunity for water efficiency. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The City Council has expressed an interest in future grant opportunities, especially with the <br />Metropolitan Council. Met Council recently rolled out information regarding their upcoming <br />Water Efficiency Grant Program (see Attachment A). The Met Council is providing up to <br />$50,000 for municipalities that supply water to support technical and behavioral changes that <br />improve municipal water use efficiency. <br /> <br />There is a City cost element to the program, the Met Council would fund 75 percent of <br />qualifying rebates, and the City would fund the remaining 25 percent (this does not account for <br />staff time associated with processing applications and payments). Examples of qualifying water <br />efficiency devices would be: <br /> <br />• Toilet replacement with a US EPA WaterSense labeled toilet <br />• Irrigation controller replacement with a US EPA WaterSense labeled controller <br />• Clothes washing machine replacement with an US DOE Energy Star labeled clothes <br />washing machine <br />• Irrigation spray sprinkler body replacement with a US EPA WaterSense labeled spray <br />sprinkler body
