CONSENT ITEM — 70 <br />, AZEN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: September 23, 2019 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />David Perrault, City Administrator <br />FROM: Todd Blomstrom, Interim Public Works Director/City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Old Snelling Avenue Geotechnical Services (2020 PMP) <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Sources: <br />$300,000 $14,250.00 PIR Fund <br />Council Should Consider <br />The City Council is requested to approve Geotechnical Services for the Old Snelling Avenue and <br />County Road E Improvement Project in the amount of $14,250.00. <br />Discussion <br />On August 26, 2019, the City Council adopted Resolution 2019-026 ordering the preparation of a <br />feasibility report for the 2020 Pavement Management Program, including project survey work <br />and a geotechnical evaluation. As part of the project planning process, the City would hire a <br />geotechnical firm to complete soil borings along the project corridor. The project consultant will <br />use this information to prepare a geotechnical report and pavement design. The scope of services <br />includes 17 standard penetration test borings and soil laboratory testing. <br />The City solicited quotes from three geotechnical firms, with the following responses received <br />on September 12th.
