CONSENT ITEM — 7F <br />moi` AZEN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: September 23, 2019 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br />SUBJECT: Authorization to Post for a Public Works Office Support Specialist <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$91,000 $74,000 Salary Split <br />Council Should Consider <br />The City Council should consider authorizing staff to begin the recruitment process for a Public <br />Works Office Support Specialist. <br />Background <br />The City Council previously discussed creating a Public Works Office Support Specialist at their <br />September 16, 2019 City Council work session, the background memo is attached for reference <br />(see Attachment A). Following the work session, a job description was created for the new <br />position (see Attachment B). This new position would be a full-time, benefit eligible position <br />and would be at Grade 7 on the pay scale ($22.70 - $28.76 per hour, estimated budget for 2020). <br />Anticipated process: <br />-Council approves authorization to recruit <br />-Staff advertises job opening <br />-Staff reviews applications, interviews candidates, and selects a finalist <br />-Staff will add their recommendation to the consent calendar of a future meeting <br />This position will not be brought forward to the Personnel Committee or City Council for future <br />consideration, except for final approval at a City Council meeting. <br />Budget Impact <br />This position is not budgeted, but would take the place of the budgeted working foreman; this <br />position falls to a lower grade on the pay scale and would lead to a cost savings in the budget of <br />approximately $17,000 ($7,700 General Fund savings and $9,300 other funds savings). <br />
