AGENDA ITEM — ID ,-ARZEN HILLS MEMORANDUM DATE: December 16, 2019 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Perrault, City Administrator SUBJECT: Elections Discussion Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: N/A N/A N/A For Council Consideration The City Council may consider giving direction or feedback on future polling places within the City. Background The City Council discussed potential polling places at their November work session, the memo from that meeting is attached (see Attachment A). At that meeting, Council directed staff to work with Ramsey County on the following options: move the polling place for Precinct 2 to Valentine Hills Elementary, or the Anderson Center if the elementary is not available. The Council also directed staff to move the polling place for Precinct 3 to North Heights Lutheran (the current polling place for Precinct 2). Following discussions with Ramsey County, Valentine Hills is unavailable, but the Anderson Center is; Ramsey County is also in the process of confirming if North Heights Lutheran will be available for Precinct 3 (we are not anticipating any roadblocks since North Heights Lutheran is already a polling place). If Council is comfortable, staff will move forward with the necessary measures to change the Precinct 2 polling place to the Anderson Center and Precinct 3 to North Heights Lutheran. Precinct 1's polling place will remain at the current location, Presbyterian Church of the Way. The Council also requested staff address the placement of election signs, the Community Development Manager/City Planner will provide a brief verbal update on this item; to adjust the placement of signs Staff will likely need to do an ordinance update.
