Attachment
From:
To: Mike Mrosla
Subject: Fwd: Letter from 0"Mearas re: proposal to overbuild on former fire station land on New Brighton Road
Date: Wednesday,June 3,2020 5:34:38 PM
Caution This email originated outside our organization; please use caution.
Hello, Commissioners.
I am forwarding my previous letter on this issue since nothing has changed. It is problematic
that the city has denied previous parties interested in building four homes on this site and now
is being asked again for the same consideration.
Nobody wants a blighted property there forever. However, decisions can't be made simply
because the city grows tired of being asked the same question over and over. I suggest a
thorough examination of what other properties within Arden Hills could potentially be
subdivided in order to create two homes where one should be or four where three should be. In
the meantime, the answer should be "No."
Thank you.
Carol Linders
On Feb 5 2020 at 8:40 PM Carol Linders
Dear Council Members:
I'm writing regarding O'Meara Home Builders' repeated
request to construct four homes on a plot of land
suitable for three homes, namely the former fire station
on New Brighton Road. I believe allowing a variance of
this nature would set a precedent that would make it
impossible to adhere to the city's comprehensive plan in
the future. If the super-sized houses built on the west
side of Hazelnut Park are any indication, I simply cannot
visualize four more of the same type squeezed into that
parcel of land on New Brighton Road. The renderings
provided in their letter recently sent to neighbors are
meaningless since they custom build each home.
I found it interesting that this builder refers to an
"existing home" north of the land yet labels the home
