<br />CONSENT ITEM – 6C <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: July 27, 2020 <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers <br /> Dave Perrault, City Administrator <br /> <br />FROM: Julie Hanson, City Clerk <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Resolution 2020-028 Approving Charitable Gambling License for Chops, Inc. and <br />Minnesota Fastpitch <br /> <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br /> N/A N/A N/A <br /> <br /> <br />Council Should Consider <br />Resolution 2020-028 Approving Charitable Gambling License for Chops, Inc. at Flaherty’s <br />Arden Bowl and Minnesota Fastpitch at Welsch’s Big 10. <br /> <br /> <br />Background <br />Chops, Inc., and Minnesota Fastpitch have submitted an application to renew their charitable <br />gambling license with the city at the above-referenced locations. The licenses will be in effect <br />through June 30, 2022. Background checks were performed by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s <br />Office and the results were satisfactory. <br /> <br />According to the terms of the application, 10% of the net profits are to be contributed to the City <br />of Arden Hills to a special fund administered by the City Council; and they will also pay a Local <br />Gambling Tax of 3% of their gross receipts (less prizes paid out) to the City to cover expenses <br />incurred for regulating gambling activity. These organizations have been regularly submitting <br />their loss/profit information to the city without issue with their current licenses and staff <br />recommends the Council consider approving these renewals. <br /> <br /> <br />Attachment: <br />Attachment A: Resolution 2020-028
