To Whom it May Concern,

I am requesting a variance for an extension on the garage structure located at 1434 County Rd E West,
Arden Hills. I am asking to be able to build the additional space to provide a clean and safe environment
for my family and the public. Since putting the sidewalk in, in front of our home there has been an
increase in foot traffic which has made it difficult to safely back out or move our vehicles. This request
would allow us the additional space needed to not have to worry about people walking by or potentially
being in the way of vehicles or personal property.
I’m building a maximum allotted size garage just like my neighbor has but I’m asking to make it slightly
bigger to compensate for some of the square footage that was taken with the sidewalk install that we
were not aware of prior to buying the house.

2. A. reasonable use. I’m using it to store my boat and family vehicles.
2. B. The property hardship is unique because there is a lot of foot traffic and vehicle traffic as this is one
of the busiest streets in Arden Hills. Me not being able to store my property inside is a safety issue for
me and my family.
2. C. If anything the character of my neighborhood will improve because I will be able to have my
property stored inside and you will not be able to see the addition from the street.
3. I don’t believe this applies to me as I don’t have an economic difficulty.

Thank you in advance for your consideration,

Keith Sandahl
